The Field
Trefonen Playing Field, next to the Hall, is owned and maintained by Shropshire Council. However, the public purse cannot afford the many improvements local residents wanted to see. Following a detailed household survey, The Playing Field Association set about fund-raising and grant applications to pay for the developments. In recent years the central area has been levelled and drained to create the football pitch, a new play area and the trim trail have been built and exercise equipment installed, a Heritage Group was formed and researched and commissioned the sculptures, pit shaft fence and interpretation panels. Many trees and shrubs have been planted. In recognition of all this work, the land became the Trefonen Queen Elizabeth ll Jubilee Field, which means it is, in perpetuity, a community asset.'
