Village Design Statement

Trefonen, Treflach and Nantmawr, Looking Forward - Building our community and heritage.

In October 2006, after a year's work, a village design statement was published. It sought to define our community and location and how they have evolved, to identify what is special about them, to describe what is characteristic of our natural and built environment and make proposals for the future. The aim of the Statement was to ensure that future development should preserve our local identity, promote high quality and ensure the continuance and growth of a vibrant, caring and self sufficient community.

All the proposals in the Statement were accepted as policy by Oswestry Rural Parish Council and several became material planning considerations, adopted by Oswestry Borough Council, the then planning authority.  The policies booklet can be downloaded here. The Statement was issued to every household and still carries weight. This document can be downloaded here.

A small working group, established in September 2015, has been updating the document and has consulted through the three settlements to complete a 2016 version of the Statement.

The Constitution to which the Steering Group works can be accessed here.
